PORTSMOUTH CITY SMUGGLERS
Portsmouth City Smugglers National League Team was created in 2007 from the very successful local league team. Portsmouth City Smugglers entered England Basketball National League Div 4 South West and secured the division championship with a 15-1 record in their debut season. The team had a solid first season in Division 3 finishing in 6th spot with 12 wins and 11 losses. Smugglers also had a great run in the National Shield making it all the way to the final, losing to league and cup winners Brixton Topcats.
Smugglers will again compete in England Basketball League Division 3 for the 2009/10 season where they will be looking to build on the success of last year and secure a spot in the play-offs. The team is currently recruiting new players for next season.

OWEN TEESDALE - No.4 - 5'10 - Guard
This is Owen's second season with the Smugglers having joined the team from the succesful youth programme at Solent Kestrels. Owen is quickly developing at men's national league level and is proving to be one of the team's consistent outside shooters. Owen also brings good defensive effort to the team.

CRAIG TEESDALE - No.5 - 5'10 - Guard
Craig rejoins the Smugglers after having a hiatus from the team during the 2008/9 season. Craig was one of the founder members of the team from the 07/08 season and brings intense defence and ball handling to the team. Craig can also knock down the outside shot and can be a lethal scorer when he's found his rythm. Together with his younger brother Owen he forms one half of the Teesdale Terriers unit. |

RYAN PAYNE - No.6 - 5'9 - Guard
Ryan is the leader of the Smugglers on-court and has taken a larger role in preparing and coaching the team. Ryan brings an all-around game to the team, combining scoring ability from inside and out, ttenacious defence and fantastic vision and passing ability. Ryan has previously played for Reading Rockets and Solent Stars. |

BEN GRAY - No.7 - 6'3 - Guard
Ben is making his first step-up to senior basketball after graduating from the Solent Kestrels junior programme. Ben has spent some time in the States and Spain over the last few seasons but has wound up back in Portsmouth. Ben is also an ex-Portsmouth City junior having been recruited out of school as a 13-year old. |

HARRY VEYSEY - No.8 - 6'6 - Forward
Harry has signed up for another season of Smugglers basketball having joined the team last season after moving to the south coast to attend Portsmouth University. Harry has good national league experience having previoulsy played for Manchester and Sheffield. Harry brings solid offensive fundamentals to the team and organisation on the defensive end. |

CRAIG DAWSON - No.10 - 6'3 - Guard
This is Craig's first season with the Smugglers national league team having played local league for several seasons with the Smugglers and Fury teams. Craig is a fine outside shooter and balances the team with his ability to hit from beyond the arc. |

ANDY AUNG - No.11 - 6'6 - Forward
Andy is playing national league basketball for Portsmouth this season having played local league for several seasons. Most recently Andy has played national league for Bognor Pirates and has also played for Solent Stars. Andy provides a big presence on the boards and is an effective scorer inside. |

CLAYTON MILNER - No.12 - 6'3 - Forward Clayton was the team's leading scorer in the 2008/9 season. Clayton is a dynamic inside scorer and plays much bigger than his size. Clayton is an athletic player who is able to score at ease on the break or in the post. He was also the team's defensive leader last seson and is an efficient rebounder. Clayton came to the Smugglers having previoulsy played for Solent Stars in Div 1.

ALEX BYRNE - No.13 - 6'2 - Guard
Alex is the team's playmaker as well as captain. Alex is undoubtley the veteran of the team having played national league basketball for well over 10 years. Whilst more concerned with getting his team mates into the game Alex has a tremendous 3-point shot and can accquire points quickly when he's in the 'groove'. |

IAN CHAMBERS - No.14 - 6'3 - Forward
Ian returns to the national league scene having briefly played for the Smugglers during their 2007/8 debut season. |

JON WILKINS - No. 15 - 6'10 - Center
Jon is a new signing for the Smugglers having joined the team from last season's rivals, the now defunct, Southampton Trailblazers. Jon has already proved to be a great signing for the team as he provides a sizeable scoring and rebound presence inside. Jon is quickly establising himself within the offence and will quickly be a vital member of the team.
